The Parish of Ingham comprises two settlements, Ingham village which is is located at the foot of the western scarp of the Lincolnshire Edge and Ingham Cliff which stands on top of the Edge overlooking the main village.  The Lincolnshire Edge itself is formed by the Middle Jurassic Lincolnshire limestone which runs along the high ground from Grantham to the Humber and forms a backbone to the county.

Ingham has its origins in the Anglo-Saxon period and is now a conservation village  with several listed buildings.  It boasts the second largest village green in the county.  An Area of Great landscape Value extends from a western boundary in Ingham Village formed by Lincoln Road and Grange Lane in an easterly direction up the escarpment to Ingham Cliff.  The surrounding landscape is arable and open and there are wide ranging views across the Trent Valley into Nottinghamshire.  The cooling towers of the power stations along the River Trent dominate the horizon to the west.

The settlements are fortunate to contain all the basic facilities of: primary school and village hall, doctors surgery, Post Office/stores/off license, two churches, three public houses, hairdressers and a vehicle repair garage.  Facilities for recreation exist in the form of a playing field, children’s play area, tennis court, hard play area, bowling green and a badminton court.  A number of active clubs and societies exist.  The village is served by the voluntary production of the Village Venture Magazine which is delivered free to 850 homes in the villages of Aisthorpe, Brattleby, Cammeringham, Fillingham, Ingham and Scampton.
