Talent Competition
The Youth Town Council held their second Talent Contest on Saturday 3rd July at Emmanuel Church, Laindon Road, Billericay. Fourteen acts, which had won their way through the heats, took part in the Talent Contest. The acts were varied ranging from solo singers, duets and dance routines - there was even a Beat Boxer who certainly entertained the audience. Finally two bands completed the first part of the evening. It was then up to the four judges, who had the hard job of short listing three acts: these were Abi Lofthouse & Sian Johnson singing duet, Adrenaline Rock Band and Ten Point Too band. The three finalists were all requested to perform again and the audience were invited to vote on these three acts. Ten Point Too was chosen as the overall winner and received a prize of £100. Everyone was amazed that the majority of the members within this band were only 11 and will surely go a long way.
During the course of the evening a member of the YTC made a presentation on the charity HELPING (Help for Education and Local Projects IN the Gambia) and as a result of the presentation £92 was donated in the charity buckets on the door as people left the Church. This money will be used to assist in reroofing one of the schools.
Members of the Youth Town Council excelled in organising this event for the second year and as Peter Bowditch, Chairman of the Town Council said, at the end of the evening 'Billericay's got talent' and our youth council makes him feel proud.
