EXTENDING THE PARISH

Rotherham Borough Council is currently carrying out a review of the Parish Boundaries and there is a proposal to extend Brinsworth Parish to include those households located on the north side of Bawtry Road but currently outside the Parish.  The results of the consultation, when each household in the area affected was asked if they would like to become part of the Parish, was that the majority of respondents were in favour.

The benefits include the support and advice available through the Parish Council and its employees, the opportunity to have a voice and be represented when community issues are being debated, and the chance to become involved as a Parish Councillor so as to be able to influence local decision making that affects the quality of life of residents.  The cost of enjoying these benefits is paid as an additional amount which is collected each year with the Council Tax.  The figure varies according to the bands and this year (2009/2010) was £50.51 for a band B property.

The Parish Council is in favour of extending this boundary and welcomes the results of the consultation.  However, if you live in this area in question and have not yet had the opportunity to express your opinions, please do so by contacting the Parish Office (telephone 01709 364199 or email brinsworthpc@hotmail.co.uk) as soon as possible, also giving your name and address.

PARISH PLAN

The Parish Council is currently working towards producinga Parish Plan which will identify the key priorities for the next few years.  A questionnaire has been circulatedto each household in Brinsworth and we would like to thank those residents who have taken time to fill one in.  The results will be analysed and we will let you know the outcome in due course.

in the Brinsworth Pavilion (behind Community Centre)

 Tuesday from 6.15 pm to 7.45 pm (term time only)
