Ferndown Town Council
Ferndown Town Council is one of the largest Town Councils in Dorset and includes the main community of Ferndown, plus the distinct communities at Longham, Hampreston, Little Canford, Stapehill and Tricketts Cross. There are 23 town councillors who serve for four years. The Town Council Office and Council Chamber are in the Pavilion which stands in the King George V Playing Fields. Meetings of the Town Council and its Committees are open to the public.
The Town Council has a Planning Committee which makes observations to the District Council on all Ferndown local planning applications. The Environment Committee includes the Recreation Committee, which is focussed on the playgrounds and recreational needs of Tricketts Cross. The Finance and Administration Committee deals with all matters relating to the administration and general management of the council and all of its financial responsibilities. The Council has a vigorous Grants and Donations Sub-Committee which seeks to help local groups who are in need of funds.
All of the Town Councillors are Trustees of the King George V Charity and this organisation is responsible for the 50 acre playing fields which include tennis courts, a bowling green, a petanque pitch and a croquet pitch as well as the regular football and cricket pitches. The children’s playground which has been redeveloped as an accessible playground for all children, whatever their level of ability or disability, is an example of the enthusiasm and determination of the Trustees of the Charity to address the needs of the community.
The Council Offices are open Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.
