Exmouth Town Council - Their story
Exmouth Town Council started constructing its website on the Vision Websites V2 system in 2005 and did not make much use of the system for a while. Really there were always other things to do. But in May 2006 the Town Clerk John Wokersien buckled down and decided that it was time to stop burying his head in the sand. Within no time pages started to develop and the flow of creativity turned into a torrent. The potential dawned very rapidly and very soon it was realized that the way to go was the V2 interactive system. Since then the site has developed into a huge bank of information about the Town Council and the Town.
It is now an encyclopaedic source of information from train times to historic information. It not only contains its own information base, it links to the many other sites available within the town.
John says ‘The benefit of using Vision websites is that it provides a stable template which is both easy to use and flexible’. It introduced John to website creation for the first time and not only took the fear away that this was a hugely technical thing to do, but also enabled this to be done within a sensible budget. When quotes were obtained for website design companies to do the job for us the prices were formidable and we would not have had direct control over our own website.
We think that we have taken the Vision Website design tools further than any other Vision customers at this stage and feel confident in the system. John says ‘I would definitely recommend Vision Websites to any other Town or Parish Councils or other small organisations who want a system which is manageable at reasonable cost and which they can control. In fact I don’t see why larger businesses shouldn’t find the system useful to use’. John has already made recommendations to others he is so pleased with the service.
Finally if you have a question or problem Maggie, Daniel and Nigel will always give advice and help. Their enthusiasm and friendliness is infectious. Anyone taking on the system will soon find that they have a creditable website to promote themselves and provide safe storage, off site, for a lot of their important information.
John’s final comment is ‘If you are hesitating, then don’t, just go for it, as you are wasting time when you could be creating a great asset for your Council and Community. You will learn a great deal and gain a lot of satisfaction in doing it yourself instead of passing it on to an ‘Expert’ who will charge you dearly for the privilege’.

Vision Websites was recommended to me by a colleague homeopath. At the time, I was looking at various other companies who were offering to write, and host a web site for me. The advantage of Vision Websites for me was that I could create and write the site myself through the very simple and straightforward 'demo' site - and take my time doing so. An then, when I went on-line, I could change the content regularly, and as much as I needed, without the additional costs that other companies wanted to charge.
So for someone who is not computer-literate, it gave me control of the site, from beginning to end. When I came up with difficulties, the help was there - clear and concise - and all for a comparatively modest cost.
